Although John Merrill's roots as a telemedia sales contractor began with a subcontracting agency of Comcast, he has been an entrepreneur in the direct marketing world for over a decade. John was an outside-the- box thinker and long-time entrepreneur, long before he discovered telemedia. He always specialized in direct to market sales. When he realized large fortune 500 companies were relying on door -to-door tactics to gain customers, he knew his abilities would be of value.
He started his own sales company, Empire Elite Marketing, and acquired his sub-contracting agreement selling Comcast. John quickly logged impressively large numbers and was impacting the door -to-door industy. In 2011, a private party was held at Hawthorne Inn where members of Comcast including Jim Burcagave and Jessica Vasquez presented John and his sales company with the first ever contractor award in Connecticut's Comcast history. John was awarded the Contractor's Organization Recongnition Award for his work in the Door-to-Door Market for Comcast. Although John eventually moved his sales force to other opportunities, he was influenced and shaped by his roots in the telecom business, starting with Comcast.
John Merrill's influence and skills have had a lasting impact. The majority of the team leaders of current Comcast sub-contracting door-to-door companies are individuals that John brought into the telemedia door -to-door space. They are sales representatives that started working side -by-side for John, and just like himself, branched out as their own entrepreuneurs. They took the lessons they learned from John's sales techniques and company structures to set themselves up and succeed as leaders in the door -to-door industry with their own sales teams. In fact, many of the current sales representatives are former Empire Elite Marketing sub-contractors. John Merrill may have moved on from Comcast, but he remembers the opportunity and where he got started in telemedia. He will always be thankful.
Soon after leaving Comcast, John took an opportunity to be an authorized dealer for DirecTV. In his first year of business, John doubled his company size and went on to be a leading force for DirecTV's door -to-door campaign. Setting new industry standards, John took his company and became one of the national Top Five Dealers of DirecTV.
During his time at DirecTV, John constantly exceeded expectations while setting records. At the 2014 DirecTV Convention in Las Vegas, with an audience of 6000 people from across the country, he was awarded Top Residential Dealer of the NorthEast. In the video to the right, presenting the award is VP of Sales, Michelle Woloff and VP of Commerical Sales, Richard Knox. He was recognized for his six consecutive quarters of growth, being the Top Bundles Dealer, and 358% year-over-year growth. John's company, Empire Elite Marketing was presented with the Top Volume New Dealer Award for 2013, in celebration of his successful first full year with DirecTV. That same year, John's company was awarded Northeast Dealer of the Year for DirecTV.
During his time at DirecTV, John was also a Dealer Advisory Council Member and a strong resource for executive decisions made by the top echelon of DirecTV. He was a two time VIP trip winner and a one time, superbowl weekend winner, one of the most prestigious awards attainable from DirecTV. Always offering support and advice, John values his relationships made with DirecTV.

In 2016, John attended Team Summit in Washington, DC and was also awarded a private meet and greet with the Goo Goo Dolls. After unexpected acquisitions and changes in industry standards, John seized a unique prospect to restructure his business and offer new opportunities to the door-to-door world that was unmatched by his competitors. John put himself back on the map and launched Ground Floor Marketing. After starting his new company, he acquired a dealer contract with Dish and changed his focus once again.
He took Dish Network's door-to-door campaign by storm and is currently one of the Top Dish Dealers in the country.
